Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it’s time for another episode of “Hawk Talk.” If you’re not familiar with the rules of our game, let’s quickly review them. First, we’ll quote someone from a recent speech or press conference and then we’ll do the same with another person. If you can correctly guess who the speaker of each speech is, you’ll win a one-way-ticket to the destination of your choice, in your greatest moment of need. OK, let’s play!
Let’s start with snippet number one:
“I am honored to be with you all united in a single voice of outrage. Tomorrow, Iran’s President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, will come to New York — to the heart of what he calls the Great Satan — and will speak freely in this country whose demise he has called for. Underneath all of Ahmadinejad’s rhetoric is an agenda that threatens all who seek a safer world. We gather today to highlight the Iranian dictator’s intentions and to call for action to thwart him. He must be stopped. Ahmadinejad denies that the Holocaust ever took place. He dreams of being an agent in a “Final Solution” — the elimination of the Jewish people. He has called Israel a “stinking corpse.” Such talk cannot be dismissed as the ravings of a madman — not when Iran just this summer tested long-range Shahab-3 missiles capable of striking Tel Aviv, and not when Iran sponsors terrorists that kill innocent people around the world. Iran wants nuclear weapons. The UN has demanded that Iran suspend its illegal nuclear enrichment activities. It has levied three rounds of sanctions. How has Ahmadinejad responded? With the declaration that the “Iranian nation would not retreat one iota” from its nuclear program.
And.
“Never again will we risk another Holocaust. And this is not a request to Israel’s enemies. This is a promise that the United States and Israel will honor against any enemy who cares to test us.”
Now for snippet number two!
”
There is no greater threat to Israel — or to the peace and stability of the region — than Iran. Now this audience is made up of both Republicans and Democrats, and the enemies of Israel should have no doubt that, regardless of party, Americans stand shoulder to shoulder in our commitment to Israel’s security. So while I don’t want to strike too partisan a note here today, I do want to address some willful mischaracterizations of my positions.
The Iranian regime supports violent extremists and challenges us across the region. It pursues a nuclear capability that could spark a dangerous arms race and raise the prospect of a transfer of nuclear know-how to terrorists. Its president denies the Holocaust and threatens to wipe Israel off the map. The danger from Iran is grave, it is real, and my goal will be to eliminate this threat.”
OK. So there you have it. If you guessed Barack Obama for number one and Sarah Palin for number two you were wrong. However, if you guessed Palin, one and Obama, two congratulations, you just won the rights to your own escape clause.
I performed this little excercise to illustrate that the differences between candidates and parties might not be as drastic as they are portrayed and that one might think. And, we’ll dissect each one through the astro-prism.
You never heard Sarah Palin actually speak those words, because she was not allowed to. That was a speech that she was supposed to give to an anti-Iran rally in New York on Monday, the 22nd (my birthday by the way). Hilary Clinton, who was also scheduled to speak there cancelled, forcing the organizers to drop Palin in the laughingly shallow interests of not being partisan. That was part of the transcript from her prepared speech. If anything, it confirms Devvy Kidd’s assertion that Palin is a war monger and my rectification of her chart with Aries rising and Venus and Jupiter in Aries is in sync with that assesment. We know ourselves through the first house, it’s how we self-actualize in the world. For Palin as I have noted before, it’s action, will, conflict and beauty. Aries, The God Of War guides her development and based on the speech, she would undoubtedly deliver, she is ready for action. At no point was there any mention of peace. At least in Obama’s version, “peace” was mentioned once. We’ve seen Aries in action with her speech, what about Venus?
Now that she didn’t give her speech, she had a little free time on her hands, so she mosied on over to The UN, where she met with, “Asif Ali Zardari” the new President of Pakistan and Benizir Bhutto’s widowed husband (who knows a thing or two about beauty), who had this to say about Palin in her presence; “You’re Gorgeous! Now I know why America is crazy about you!” I’m sure that this further endeared Sarah even more to the loyal disciples of Gloria Steiniem. Now that’s Venus on the ascendant in full effect being recognized by her beauty.
With Palin’s stellium in Aquarius, that’s five fixed signs, it’s clear now that she can be an intractable ideolog and with her Aries ascendant, she can be dangerously aggressive. Add those two elements together and she might have more testosterone than the last four vice-presidents combined. Combiner hers and John McCain’s hawkish perspectives and there is a reason for people to be concerned.
Now back to Obama.
His speech came from a recent appearance before AIPAC, the powerful Israeli lobby. I extracted the part where he spoke directly to the presence of Iran, but his speech was much longer than Palin’s and his use of the word “peace” was much more pronounced, even though he ultimately arrives at the same destination that she does. Through my own rectification of Obama’s chart with Scorpio rising and Neptune in Scorpio on the ascendant, it would make a great deal of sense for Obama to almost appear cognitively dissonant. His speech was long, recounting salient facts and points pertaining to the history and formation of Israel and how important it is for Israel to survive. But his use of the word peace (fifteen times in the speech), conspicuously absent in Palin’s screed, is quite noticeable.
My feeling is that based on Obama’s ascendant, he truly believes in peace as a concept at some level, and yet with the fluidic nature of Neptune dominating his personality, he will say or do almost anything to appease a given group or community in order to placate theirs and his own interests. Is this not the model of modern American politics? Are not all polls guilty of this? To some extent, that would be true, with the exception that Obama made his biggest impression early on when he had a strong, anti-war stance, to a people that are tired of war. His drastic and almost sudden about face, invoking the language of threat and retalliation belies an almost schizophrenic need to be accepted and endorsed, despite the deep-seated-ideals that supposedly comprise his core.
So the question becomes this. Do you trust the person who is more authentic given their clearly definable traits, thoughts and deeds, despite the fact that they could lead to us armageddon? Or the other person who might harbor quite positive clandestine principles and yet betrays them in order to appease and obey?
America, the choice is yours.
Or is it?

I believe that Ahmadinejad is a complete nut who uses his religion (not a nut job because of his religion) and has every intention of wiping Israel off the map. I think Israel will act soon to limit that possibility. One reason is they don’t trust the US to support them in the effort. The other reason is that it has been 41 years (1/4 Neptune transit) since Israel pre-emptively attacked Egypt in the Six Day War. I think the stakes are higher now with Iran, given their possible development of nuclear weapons. Astrodatabank has a chart for Israel (14 May 1948 4:37 PM Tel Aviv); Neptune (perception) in Aquarius is currently transiting the 4th house, squaring the Taurus Sun (23.41), sextiling Chiron (21.25) in Scorpio and trining Uranus (24.21) in Gemini. Israel perceives (rightly to my mind) that their homeland is being threatened. The natal chart has the Moon (people) and Vesta (security/heritage) conjunct the Midheaven (3.56 Leo).
A friend and I were talking the other night and he thinks it will happen right after our elections. I checked the transits for November 5th (my birthday). The Moon will be crossing the IC and consequentially, opposing those MC conjunctions; tr Mars in Scorpio will be exactly conjunct Chiron; tr Neptune (21.28 Aquarius) in addition to trining 8th house Uranus will also trine the TransPlutonian planet Orcus (21.50 Gemini). Transiting Ceres and transiting Orcus will be conjunct in the 10th house (0-1 degree Virgo). Transiting Saturn at 19.0 Virgo (11th) will be opposite tr Uranus and natal Juno (19.12 Pisces). The Sun at 12 Scorpio will square Pluto at 12.39 and Saturn at 16.45 Leo (both in the 10th house). Mercury will be entering Scorpio and crossing the Ascendant (0.53); serious negotiations or defending actions? – given that it is 1st house I would think the latter.
Sasha, as always, your comments are well informed and welcome here. I am suspicious and distrustful of Ahmadinejad but for probably different reasons than you.
I have been giving additional thoughts to my previous comment on this post. Recent news has suggested that Israel, anticipating an Obama presidency, may wait and give him an opportunity to diplomatically resolve the nuclear standoff with Iran. That still leaves the issue of Iran’s air defense system, supposedly operational in December, which could complicate a successful airstrike if postponed until next year. In June Israel conducted air maneuvers near Greece and over the eastern Mediterranean. Greece has an air defense system similar to that being installed in Iran. In response, Iran has been conducting its own defense maneuvers and talking about the possibility of striking Israel first.
This article suggests two options for Israel: 1) acceptance of Iran becoming a nuclear power or 2) surprise attack.

Mercury’s (11.45 Libra) current position in Israel’s 12th house suggests to me the latter, especially as it is conjunct natal Neptune (10.35 Libra) and trine natal Mercury (10.25 Gemini) It’s possible that the Israeli government would not forewarn the US, along the lines of asking for forgiveness later rather than asking for permission (which has already been denied once). Of course, I could be wrong about that as tr Saturn will be conjunct the asteroid Washingtonia (20.18 Virgo). Tr Washington (14.34 Leo) is at the mid-point of Israel’s natal Saturn/Pluto conjunction in Leo (10th house).
While I gave a date of 11/05/2008 as a possible attack date, I am seeing that there is potentially a two week window which allows Israel to attack after the election and yet have the advantage of Mars in Scorpio. I have been looking at Israel’s transits for 11/14/08 (6:00 AM Iran). On that date, the Sun (22.05 Scorpio) will be conjunct natal Chiron (21.25 Scorpio) and opposite its natal position at 23.41 Taurus. The Sun also forms a sextile/trine to the Saturn (19.46 Virgo) – Uranus (18.49 Pisces) opposition while transiting Jupiter at 18.59 Capricorn forms a trine/sextile to the opposition. Tr Mars (28.24 Scorpio) will exactly square natal Mars 28.19 Leo, trine MC (3.56 Leo), natal Moon (4.39 Leo), and asteroid Vesta (29.42 Cancer). The Moon (3.59 Gemini – 8th house) opposes tr Mars, sextiles MC, Moon, and Vesta while squaring natal Mars. Tr Chiron (16.15 Aquarius) and tr NN (12.58 Aquarius) will oppose natal Saturn at 16.45 Leo and natal Pluto at 12.39 Leo, respectively. Tr Pluto (29.35 Sagittarius) forms a sextile/trine to Israel’s ASC – Descendant (0.53 Scorpio – 0.53 Taurus). Pluto also trines asteroid Varuna at 29.40 Aries and inconjuncts Vesta. Tr Mercury (15.36 Scorpio) opposes natal NN (14.01 Taurus) and squares Pluto and Saturn in Leo and tr NN and Chiron in Aquarius.
In the progressed chart, Sun is at 21.33 Cancer trine tr Uranus and tr Sun. Pr Moon is at 29.34 Libra trining tr Pluto, opposite natal Varuna, and squaring natal Vesta. Pr Jupiter (20.43 Sagittarius) is conjunct pr Ascendant and square the tr Saturn-Uranus opposition. Pr Mars (28.43 Virgo) sextiles tr Mars and natal Vesta, inconjuncts natal Varuna, squares tr Pluto.
