centaur.jpgI shot an arrow into the air . . .The final astrological report for 2008 is upon us and the planetary titans have shifted in the space of the last time I ruminated on such lofty celestial matters. In case you don’t know, Pluto has taken up a long term residence in Capricorn for the next 16 years. It did so on Thanksgiving. I’m always on the lookout for meta-events that correspond with such dramatic shifts in planetary alignments and there were two that really jumped out. The first is the most obvious and that’s the Mumbai terror activity and the second is one that grabbed headlines for all the wrong reasons; The Wal-Mart, Black Friday stampede on Long Island, where a Wal-Mart employee was trampled to death. The shadowy energy behind Pluto in Capricorn manifests in the rise of the corporatocracy, the internecine entangling of governance and business to form one, plutocratic agency based on governing through cost analysis, efficiency and scale–but what happened at that Wal-Mart was anything but efficient. In fact, there was something horrifically ironic about the stampede, in that it was pure, unadulterated gluttony and greed that ended some minimum-wage-life.

It’s easy to pin the blame on the thundering herd, but where was Wal-Mart in all of this? Isn’t it incumbent upon a company to provide for the safety of it’s employees? The subtle and yet ironic subtext of the Pluto in Capricorn shift, is that obviously they didn’t care enough, that the unhindered rampage to the shelves was more important than securing the safety of one of their own. Now I am not saying that Wal-Mart was intentionally setting up this tragic event, and yet the overall psychology of corporate culture in the mega-store retail arena helped create the conditions for this to occur. It is something worth noting as throughout Pluto’s reign in Capricorn, we will see more and more examples of the failure of corporations to be accountable for their actions. The veil of profits will be lifted and we’ll be able to get a glimpse the wizard’s scaly visage

In addition to the Pluto shift, Uranus also went forward in Pisces. Uranus direct in Pisces represents dramatic an unexpected breakthroughs in dreaming, visions and imagination. Look for a torrent of ideas, creativity and spontaneous solutions to arise in creative and fertile minds. Don’t consider yourself creative? Don’t worry, Pisces in Uranus says, “go along with the tide.” Find your muse or amusement and offset the heavy vibes of Pluto in Capricorn with the innate joy of creativity. It’s yours for the asking and the taking.

The month starts off with more Capricorn as The Moon, Venus and Jupiter are all aligned in Capricorn. We witnessed their intimate proximity on Thanksgiving as they all rested within 2 degrees of one another, augmenting their powers. Even now, in the night sky, you can see them form a close triune in the rapidly waxing crescent phase of the new moon. What does it all mean? Capricorn is big picture, long range, deep karmic cycles of time. Think big and long right now. How do you want to thrive in the next twenty years? How do you envision the world for your children’s children? What can you do in order to sustain and make this habitable place for generations to come? These and other queries into eternity are your gifts for the days, months and years to come.
